When doing the hotkey of "Ctrl+Alt+A" the QR code comes up on the local machine instead of the remote machine being controlled via ConnectWise Control.
There are several ways to successfully launch Technician Mode on a remote machine when using ConnectWise Control (aka ScreenConnect) when you also have AutoElevate installed on your own machine.
ConnectWise Control Toolbox
Take the attached text file and save it into your ConnectWise Control toolbox folder. Then when connected via ConnectWise Control you can initiate technician mode by running the .bat file from your ConnectWise Control Toolbox which will work as long as the target machine has an AutoElevate Agent installed and running.
It’s a very simple .bat file that changes to the "C:\Program Files (X86)\AutoElevate" directory and then runs the AETechnicianModeLauncher.exe program.
Alternate Methods
All of those methods would do the same thing as being able to run the hotkey combination of “Ctrl+Alt+A”.
- Alternatively you can manually navigate to the C:\Program Files (X86)\AutoElevate" directory on the target machine and manually run the AETechnicianModeLauncher.exe program
- or you can also use host screen controls to run “C:\Program Files (X86)\AutoElevate\ AETechnicianModeLauncher.exe”
- or you could do something on the target machine that doesn’t have an AE rule and click on the “technician mode” link in the lower right hand corner of the dialog that appears.
